When people go boating it gives them hours and hours of enjoyment that is hard to be topped by anything else. It is very important that prior to going out onto the water that there are some safety issues to follow this will ensure that all of your guests and yourself are safe.
You must be sure that you have all of the safety equipment that is recommended onboard of your boat. There are guidelines that need to be followed that are set by the Coast Guard which requires you to have certain safety items on your boat.
One of the main safety items that you need is life jackets. You need to be certain that there are enough for everybody on the boat and that the life jackets are the proper size for everybody. Also prior to setting out you need to check to see the age requirements of children required to wear a life jacket all the time while on the boat.
You will also need to have a fire extinguisher on your boat. The fire extinguisher that you have on your boat needs to be one that is a Type B or Type C. Having a fire extinguisher that is this type will put out any fires that have been started by gas, oil, electrical, or grease.
HAving a first aid kit on your boat is a complete must for emergencies. Hopefully it will never be used but however it is a good ides to have one handy. Along with your first aid kit you may also want to have some sort of distress signal. So if in an incident you may need to use any you have them to shoot up into the air to get the aid of a rescue boat.
